A kitchen is a high traffic area. It may be just you in there but considering the amount you move around, it is high traffic. With a kitchen table and an island already occupying a great deal of the floor area, you probably don’t have much space left. But if you do need more table area, why not use console tables. It is unconventional, but look at the advantages. Console tables are usually of a height where it is comfortable to work on them. They fit against the wall and will not obstruct your movement area. If you like to keep you kitchen simple, you can go in for a very minimalist design or if you want to add some color, go in for bight and ornate console tables.
