While an end table can be used for a variety of sitting room applications, most interior decorators advise that it should not be too cluttered with items placed on it. An end table is best used as an accent table, to highlight a part of a room or to draw out and enhance the design features of the rest of the furniture. This is not to say that an end table should be left empty. Just be careful not to place so many things on it that the things on the table become the focus, rather than the table itself.
